4 Gen Logistics, a family-owned drayage company based in Southern California, has made a significant investment in sustainable transportation by deploying 41 Volvo VNR Electric trucks in their fleet. This decision comes after gaining experience with battery-electric trucks through the Volvo LIGHTS project in 2022. Volvo Financial Services provided funding support for 4 Gen Logistics’ expanded zero-emission fleet.
Volvo VNR Electric trucks have been a game-changer for 4 Gen Logistics, allowing them to haul freight between the Port of Long Beach and distribution warehouses in the Inland Empire region. With two driver shifts daily, the Volvo VNR Electric fleet logs up to 240 miles per shift, showcasing the efficiency and reliability of these electric trucks.
David Duncan, the owner of 4 Gen Logistics, expressed pride in the positive feedback received from drivers on the performance of the Volvo VNR Electric trucks. To support this ambitious goal, 4 Gen Logistics worked closely with TEC Equipment’s Fontana and La Mirada dealership sales teams to identify the most suitable configurations for their Volvo VNR Electric trucks. Dealer-led driver training sessions have helped drivers optimize range and efficiency with features like regenerative braking, contributing to the overall success of the electrification initiative.
Charging infrastructure is a key component of transitioning to electric vehicles, and 4 Gen Logistics took the initiative to build and operate charging stations at their Port of Long Beach and Rialto facilities. The company plans to have a total of 90 350 kW charging stations to support their growing battery-electric fleet, ensuring that their trucks remain powered and operational.
